FOR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS

Hi, I am Johanna Rohrer, a Strategic Service Designer based in cologne. Since I was a child, life for me has been about creating and trying things out. I tried out various musical instruments as well as sports, went to painting school, and our workbench in the basement was often occupied by me.

So I decided to pursue a creative profession: as a communication designer I strengthened my eye for design and the way to make information tangible for the addressee.

I always wanted to understand who is this for whom I design? What drives them? What supports them? That's why I decided to enroll in the interdisciplinary master's program in product design and product development at the Fachhoschule Köln (FH Köln) and Cologne International School of Design (KISD).

The program combines the three areas of design, business and engineering. Here I got to know the field of Service Design. It is so much fun, eye-opening and creates immense value to integrate co-creation – by engaging deeply with user or/and customer, we can create bespoke solutions that truley resonate. Silmultaneously, by auditing the backstage of operational realities, we can bridge the gap between service delivery and internal flow. And also ensure long-term future proofing for a product or brand.
